Open-source alternatives to DocuSign

4 open-source options for DocuSign, the e-signature. Compare the reviewed workflows and unreviewed listings below. 4 shipped code in the last 30 days.

DocuSign Personal$10/molist price

DocuSign charges per sender with a cap on envelopes, and companies that send many contracts end up on custom enterprise deals. Signed documents and audit trails sit in DocuSign's cloud. For a signature on an NDA or an offer letter, many teams decide they need far less.

Documenso and DocuSeal are the main options, both with templates, audit logs and APIs you can self-host. DocuSeal has a drag-and-drop builder for placing fields. Documenso seals documents with a signing certificate you can supply. OpenSign offers similar features and a free hosted version. LibreSign works inside Nextcloud.

What you give up by leaving DocuSign

The honest part. Free and open usually costs something else.

  • Qualified signatures DocuSign offers EU qualified electronic signatures with identity checks; most open tools offer simple signatures only.
  • Name recognition Legal teams and counterparties know DocuSign, and a lesser-known tool may draw questions.
  • Fewer integrations Salesforce, Microsoft and Google integrations are fewer or need custom work.
  • Signer verification Checks like SMS codes or ID scans for signers are limited or missing.
